What do I do as a Kaki volunteer?
What does it mean to be part of a neighbourhood buddy system that supports isolated and frail seniors?
What kind of tasks can I help with?
The non-exhaustive list of tasks include:
Providing a listening ear
Purchasing groceries
Medical escort for seniors without caregivers
Teaching seniors how to use technology
Senior kakis typically request for a specific type of help from volunteers (any one of the tasks above). Here at KampungKakis, we encourage volunteers to keep an open mind and offer to support seniors in more ways than one -
like how a grandchild would support a grandparent.
What can I expect after signing up as a Kaki volunteer?
After signing up, we will bring you through a few steps once you have filled in the volunteer sign-up form:
- Each kaki volunteer needs to be screened by providing 2 character references for us to contact.
- After character references are completed, we will find a senior kaki living near you.
- A KK Core Team member will then reach out to you with the details and set up the first meeting.
- Do get back to the Core Team member if you have any questions or concerns about your kaki.
- You can contact KampungKakis admin (tel: 88082618) or the Core Team member who reached out to you should you be unable to continue volunteering.
